Rolf Meyer-Reumann, German national, is the co-founder and senior partner of Meyer-Reumann & Partners with nearly 30 years of experience in the Middle East. Mr. Rolf Meyer-Reumann was the Lawyer of Trust of the Austrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and received a decoration for his outstanding services. Rolf Meyer-Reumann contributed numerous speeches to seminars in the Gulf and in Europe and has written numerous articles on various legal subjects.

Background

After serving ten years in the German merchant navy, he obtained his master-certificate (A6) in 1969. From 1969 to 1974 he studied law in Hamburg followed by the obligatory apprenticeship (Referendarszeit). He was admitted to the bar the Hamburg Courts in 1977. From 1977 to 1982 he practiced as lawyer in Hamburg mainly in shipping matters. In 1981 he drafted several maritime by-laws for Saudi Arabia.
Rolf Meyer-Reumann has been practicing as a lawyer in the Gulf Region since 1981/2. He was the first German lawyer practicing law in Saudi Arabia (1981), the first to establish a legal office in Dubai (1989), the first moving to Baghdad during the Iraq embargo (1998), the first opening a branch in Erbil, Kurdistan (2008), the first opening a branch in Alexandria, the first getting a license for a fully foreign owned company for legal services in Oman (mid of 2009).

Rolf Meyer-Reumann’s work focuses mainly on:
