Saudi allows women to drive trucks and motorcycles
Women in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to operate commercial vehicles, drive trucks and ride motorcycles on the kingdom's roads next summer, according to authorities in Riyadh. Iraqi parliament rejects changing child marriage law
The proposed amendments to Iraq's personal status law, which were introduced by the council of representatives on November 1, would codify marriage, divorce, inheritance and child custody procedures under religious law. New legislation in Abu Dhabi for divorce, marriage and inheritance matters
Regulators in Abu Dhabi will offer the option for non-Muslim expatriates in family and inheritance matters to move away from the otherwise mandatory application of Shariah law. The National reports that with a new marriage mediation law non-Muslim couples in Abu Dhabi will be able to get married and divorced through churches and religious leaders of their own faith. Already earlier a personal affairs court was established for non-Muslims, with a registry that enables expatriates to register a will and to freely determine who should be the beneficiary of their assets. Exemptions from VAT
Residential property in the UAE, some financial services, undeveloped land and local transport will be exempt from value-added tax (VAT), which will be introduced at a rate of 5 per cent on January 1 next year and is expected to boost GDP by about 1.5 per cent. Whereas supplies (including sales or leases) of commercial properties will be taxable at the standard VAT rate, supplies of residential properties will generally be exempt from VAT. This will ensure that VAT would not constitute an irrecoverable cost to persons who buy their own properties. Read article...

Organ donation procedures in the UAE must be in accordance with Law No. 15 of 1993 Regulating the Transfer and Transplant of Human Organs, Ministerial Decision No. 566 of 2010 on Implementing the Regulation of Federal Law No. 15 of 1993 Regulating the Transfer and Transplant of Human Organs and Unified Guide to Organ Transfer and Transplant in the GCC.
