Elena Schildgen, German national, worked for Meyer-Reumann & Partners (previously Meyer-Reumann Legal Consultancy) in Dubai for five months in 1990 during her lawyer apprenticeship. Since her final law examination in 1991 she is admitted to the bar of Munich. In March 1991 she joined Meyer-Reumann & Partners in Dubai. Mrs. Schildgen advises clients on all commercial matters related to countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), specialising in distributorships and commercial agencies disputes in all GCC-Countries, the foundation of regional offices, and limited liability companies of foreign companies within the U.A.E.

In January 1995 Mrs. Schildgen became a partner of Meyer-Reumann & Partners.

Background

Elena Schildgen graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Passau, Germany in 1988. Mrs. Schildgen published various articles on different legal topics of the Gulf countries in Middle East Executive Report (MEER) and Recht der Internationalen Wirtschaft(RIW).

Elena Schildgen’s basic functions related to Dubai are:

  • Drafting, reviewing, amending and negotiating commercial and corporate contracts
  • Developing and setting up of corporate structures and regional sales organizations
  • Advising international corporate clients on setting up of companies in the United Arab Emirates including the Free Zones
  • Advising clients on multi-jurisdictional corporate restructuring, such as carve outs, mergers and aquisitions
  • Coordinating legal procedures at German courts concerning company law, family law and labour law
  • Advising clients on trademark registrations for all GCC-Countries
  • Specialized in the following fields: family law, inheritance law and labour law
